The Wombats have spent the summer focused on writing new material for their upcoming third album which will be the follow-up to 'The Wombats present. This Modern Glitch' which peaked at #3 when it was released in 2011 and featured some of their most popular singles to date in the shape of 'Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)', 'Jump Into The Fog' (a Top 10 hit on the Billboard ModernRock chart) and 'Techno Fan'.
As a first taster of what to expect, the trio will release the brand new track 'Your Body Is A Weapon' on October 2nd on 14th FloorRecords. The track was produced by Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Taking Back Sunday) at Barefoot Studios inLos Angeles.
The Wombats will follow the release of the track by heading to Los Angeles to embark upon the recording of the new album. The band are also confirmed to play two dates in Brazil at the end of September, as well as joining The Falls Music and Arts Festivalwhich tours Australia over the New Year period.
'This Modern Glitch' saw The Wombats make huge strides forward. In addition to their highest UK chart position, the album also peaked at #2 in Australia and hit the Top 20 in bassist Tord Øverland-Knudsen's homeland of Norway, as well as Germany andHolland.
Hugely popular in the live arena, subsequent touring highlights included headline sets at iTunes, Lovebox and Wakestock; further festival action at Glastonbury, V, Radio 1's Big Weekend and Rockness; and numerous headline shows which included three nights at the 02 Academy in Brixton. International touring highlights have included playing to a rammed tent at Coachella, Australiandates which included performing in front of an audience of 8000 people in Brisbane and well as to a sold-out 6000 capacity crowd inSydney, and completing their German tour in support of 'This Modern Glitch' by playing to 6000 people in Cologne.
