British rock legends The Who will finally finish their postponed album - but the band's songwriter and guitarist Pete Townshend is too busy writing his autobiography to take part in its completion.

Townshend announced last month (24MAR05) that his hectic schedule meant the long-awaited release was to be shelved, devastating fans who had waited more than 20 years for an album from the TOMMY stars.

But the 59-year-old rocker noted his followers' disappointment, so has asked his guitarist brother SIMON to take his place in recording sessions.

He explains, "I have suggested to Roger, who has some time prior to filming, that he works with Simon to complete the tracks I started at home.

"They are going to begin shortly but they will have to work without me. I'm writing my book."
