Nominated acts Tom and Kodaline joined the established headliners at London's Electric Ballroom to give fans a reminder of their sound ahead of the Brand New winner being announced next month.
Dublin-based epic indie group Kodaline were on first, although by their own admission they almost didn't make it, possibly because of snowy conditions affecting Ireland.
Singer Steve Garrigan told the crowd: ''We missed our flight this morning and nearly didn't get here.''
The hunky group played tracks including 'All I Want', 'Perfect World' and 'Lose Your Mind', receiving rapturous reception from the audience.
Next, the a piano was brought centre stage ready for Tom. His recent winning of the BRITs Critics Choice Award seems to have fortified his confidence and the young star held the crowd in the palm of his hand throughout an energetic performance, with 'Hold Me' and 'Another Love' both standing out as sure fire hits.
The singer has also today (22.01.13) announced the release of his debut album, 'Long Way Down', which will come out on April 15.
The Vaccines then rounded off the night, delivering hit after hit inlcuding 'Wreckin Bar (Ra Ra Ra)', 'If You Wanna' and 'Teenage Icon'.
Partway into their set, singer Justin Young told the crowd: ''We've been all around the world already this year, and there's nothing like coming home. Feel free to dance to this one, it's called 'Ghost Town'.''
Public voting for the overall 2013 winner is open at brandnew.mtv.co.uk, and the winner will be announced on February 1.
