The Traps - Imposter
Birmingham four-piece The Traps unveil their brand new double A-side single 'Imposter' (also 'My Grip') on March 17th 2014 through Label Fandango. The latter side of the single featured on their 2013 album 'Calypso'.
The video for 'Imposter' is a cheery montage of footage featuring the band driving down a motorway, practicing, recording and their general antics from drinking tea to playing pool. The quality is low which adds to the laid-back rawness of this indie quartet. The song is another impressive number from The Traps with its catchy crooning vocals at each chorus, soaring synths and a driving rhythm that definitely makes you want to replay.
The band are brothers Jamie Berry and Nick Berry (vocalist and bassists respectively), guitarist James Minhas and drummer Daniel Webb, and first formed in 2011. After gaining much attention for their album's title single 'Calypso', it seems that they are continuing to head in the right direction with 'Imposter'. ''Imposter' was the first song we wrote after 'Calypso'', Jamie says. 'The music had a brooding feel to it which, for some reason, conjured images of a secretive character that became the subject.' The Traps have several upcoming London dates this Spring including at The Lexington on March 14th 2014.
