A remake of the 1981 horror flick The Evil Dead (with The The left out) scared up an estimated $26 million at the domestic box office over the weekend, demonstrating that at the multiplex, the only thing that can beat sex and violence is more violence. The race for second place was too close to call. The runner-up film was either G.I. Joe: Retaliation or The Croods, each of which reportedly earned around $21 million. The 3D redo of Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park finished fourth with around $18.2 million -- a third of that amount coming from 312 IMAX screens. Fifth place was also too close to call as FilmDistrict's Olympus Has Fallen and Lionsgate's Tyler Perry's Temptation ... each wound up with around $10 million.
