British punk veterans The Stranglers have called off a gig in Detroit, Michigan after visa issues prevented them from entering the U.S.
The band is currently in Canada but was due to cross the border to play in Detroit on Thursday (30May13).
However, they have now pushed the show back until September (13) after failing to resolve visa issues in time.
A statement posted on the band's website reads, "The Detroit show... has unfortunately had to be postponed until September. The band have been in Toronto since Tuesday awaiting vital work visa approvals from the U.S. Embassy who have failed to meet the deadline to enable the Detroit show to proceed.
"The band's visas were finally approved (on Thursday)... but it is with deep regret that they will arrive to late (sic) for the band to enter the U.S. and perform (the) Detroit show...
"We apologise to the fans who have bought tickets... and have waited 20 years to see the band but this situation was completely out of our control. The band will continue the tour in Toronto tomorrow as planned and the rest of the tour will be unaffected."
The Stranglers will play in Toronto and Montreal before heading to the U.S. next month (Jun13) for shows in New York, Boston in Massachusetts and Chicago, Illinois, among others.
