The Specials Drummer John 'Brad' Bradbury Has Died, Aged 62.
The musician passed away on Monday (28Dec15), but no more details about his death were available as WENN went to press.
The news was confirmed in a statement from the band, which was posted on Twitter.com. It reads, "It is with deep regret that we say goodbye to our great friend, the world's greatest drummer, our beloved Brad. RIP."
A statement from the percussionist's family adds, "It is with deepest regret that we have to announce the very sad news that our much loved husband and father John 'Brad' Bradbury passed away on Monday the 28th of December."
Veteran musician Billy Bragg was among the first to pay tribute, noting that Bradbury's death was announced shortly after the passing of Motorhead legend Lemmy Kilmister, who also died on Monday.
"A bad day for good music. First we lose Lemmy, now news that Brad from The Specials has passed away. RIP, " Bragg tweets.
Bradbury joined the The Specials in 1979 and continued as part of The Special AKA following the group's split in 1981.
He went back to The Specials for the band's reunion tour in 2009, and during his career he also played in soul group JB's Allstars and Selecter.
