Irish rockers The Script have cancelled two U.K. shows due to family illness.
The band was set to play Leeds and Blackpool in England on Thursday and Friday night (29-30Aug13) respectively, but they have pulled out after a relative of a bandmember fell ill.
On the group's Twitter.com page, a representative writes, "It is with deepest regret that The Script have had to cancel both their Leeds Academy (29th Aug) & Blackpool Illuminations (30th Aug) shows due to a sudden serious family illness.
"The band deeply regret having to cancel at such short notice. Refunds will be available from the point of purchase. Script Hq."
The Friday night gig in the seaside resort of Blackpool was due to coincide with the official switching on of the resort's famous Illuminations, and on Thursday organisers were in talks with Take That star Gary Barlow about replacing The Script at the event.
Simon Blackburn, the leader of Blackpool Council, says, "He is one of the people we have spoken to. What I am sure of is by early this afternoon time we will have a show."
