Irish Singer Anne Nolan Is To Be Tested For Alzheimer's Disease Amid Fears She Could Have Contracted The Same Condition Which Blighted Her Mother's Final Years.
The Nolans star admits she is terrified she has inherited the degenerative neurological condition and she has decided to take an innovative new test to find out.
She tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "I worry about getting it and I know my sisters worry. Sometimes I forget things, like why I went upstairs but friends say everybody does that. Dementia is when you start to do dangerous things, which I haven't. But if I get it I want it detected early. The test I want is available next year... You have to think about dementia in the same light (as cancer), if you can detect it earlier you can prolong your life."
Nolan's mother Maureen lost her battle with Alzheimer's in 2007, aged 81.
