Mama director Andres Muschietti is in talks to take charge of The Mummy franchise reboot after Len Wiseman walked away from the project.

The Underworld filmmaker quit the upcoming blockbuster earlier this summer (13) over scheduling conflicts, and now Universal studio bosses are keen to pass the torch to Muschietti, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The original The Mummy trilogy, which starred Brendan Fraser, grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide from the films' releases between 1999 and 2008.
