The upcoming The Hobbit two-parter may not be called The Hobbit Part 1 and The Hobbit Part 2 , as had been expected. Instead, according to The Lord Of The Rings fansite TheOneRing.com, the films may be titled The Hobbit There and Back Again and The Hobbit An (or The ) Unexpected Journey . Those titles, the website said, have been registered (it doesn't say with whom) by New Line and are presumably taken from the memoirs of J.R.R. Tolkien's character Bilbo Baggins in his novel. Lending credence to the supposition that the studio will use those titles is the fact that the studio's Lord of the Rings trilogy was not identified by chapter numbers but by subtitles ( The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King ). Several Tolkien fans posted messages noting that it would be like for the first movie to be subtitled An Unexpected Journey since, as one of them put it, "the book begins that way and half of it is filled with unexpected events on the way to the Lonely Mountain" while "There" in the second title could refer to the Lonely Mountain.
