What I Say And What I Mean
(14/11/05 Geffen Records)
Stampeding guitars pick up the Tori Amos and dabble of Cerys Mathews style vocals possessed by Elizabeth 'Z' Berg to take off in a delightful romp away from the past. This young and fresh all girl trio combines vibrancy and free spirit that comes out through their music. They saunter passed the boundaries of pop, merely waving at indie to reach a destination of thrilling jam fuelled rock in the title track.
Each member of this outfit is the progeny of someone with a musical past and this has probably contributed in no small way to their surprisingly polished sound, for ones so young. 'Once Things Look Up' takes on a more yearning feel and wrestles with a positive outlook to turn it upside down and shake it several times. A cover of the Split Enz number 'One Step Ahead', features an almost haunted P J Harvey edge, as this tantalising outfit shows reverence to music past, helping to ensure that they have a lengthy future.
