The Killers want to abolish their reputation as a synthesiser-led band on their second album.

The American rockers have gained acclaim and a strong following since the release of their 2004 debut HOT FUSS, but they're determined not to let their music be pigeonholed.

And although they're promising not to alienate fans with a completely different set of songs, The Killers want to explore new sounds on their next offering.

Singer BRANDON FLOWERS says, "You can't drift too far off the first record, but these songs are what the new album will sound like. A bit more organic, with organs and pianos. We don't want to be 'that (synth) band' forever. We'll let someone else be that."
