The Italian Job co-stars Mark Wahlberg and Jason Statham bonded before the cameras started rolling on their heist movie remake, by planning a midnight raid on Paramount Studios in Hollywood.

Movie maker F Gary Gray organised a late-night ruse to see what his cast was made of.

The plan included stealing security guard uniforms from Los Angeles' RALEIGH STUDIOS and scaling walls to get into nearby Paramount. The whole raid was videotaped.

He recalls, "I wanted to build camaraderie between the guys. I can't tell you everything that happened.

"We stole a computer and dailies from another movie."

The movie maker's assistant later returned the loot to the lot.
