Animated movie The Incredibles has caused shockwaves in Hollywood after landing a nomination for the PRODUCERS GUILD OF AMERICA's best film award alongside the hotly-tipped OSCAR favourites.

The movie - about a family of undercover superheroes trying to balance a normal life with saving the world - will compete with highly acclaimed films SIDEWAYS, The Aviator, Finding Neverland and Million Dollar Baby in the prestigious category.

But the computer-generated film's nomination has left many Hollywood critics dumbfounded, because animated features have historically been shunned by the top awards categories.

Meanwhile, The West Wing, WILL + Grace, Six Feet Under, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATES, NIP/TUCK, The Sopranos and Arrested Development will all be battling it out for various TV honours.

The prize-giving ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on 22 January (05).
