The most-watched game on mobile devices was the Valparaiso-Michigan State game, which generated 1.84 million streams. Altogether 5.8 million unique visitors tuned into the basketball contests via mobile devices, an increase of 170 percent from 2012 when 2.1 million did so. Turner noted that the NCAA March Madness Live app was the No. 1 sports app in the App Store and Google Play during the tournament and was also the No. 1 free app across all categories in the App Store.
