Rapper The Game has successfully managed to postpone a hearing into a sexual abuse lawsuit because he's worried about gun violence in Chicago.
The Dreams star is being sued for $10 million (£6.8 million) by Priscilla Rainey, a contestant on his U.S. reality series She's Got Game, in August, 2015. She claimed The Game, who was allegedly drunk and under the influence of drugs, assaulted her while filming a scene in a Los Angeles bar for the show, in which women compete for his affection.
The Game, real name Jayceon Taylor, was set to attend a court hearing in Chicago, Illinois, where Rainey filed the lawsuit, on 16 June (16) but he asked a judge to push the date back because he was concerned about gun crime in the city, according to TMZ.com.
The rapper reportedly cited the recent Memorial Day weekend (28-30May16), where more than 60 people were shot and six killed. He is worried he could get caught up in any subsequent violence.
The Game was shot five times when he worked as a drug dealer around Compton, California in 2001. He was in a coma for three days.
Rainey didn't oppose his request and a judge agreed to postpone the hearing. A new date hasn't been scheduled.
The case will head to trial in November (16) unless a settlement can be reached.
The rapper, who tried to get the lawsuit dismissed in February (16), previously blasted the allegations on Instagram.
"(She) is a liar," he wrote. "Every girl on that show will tell u (you) I never touched this chick or ever desired to be anywhere near her. She got kicked off the show & as a result she filed this lame lawsuit which was probably her intentions before the show was ever even started (sic)."
