The Fast And The Furious star shared a heartbreaking black and white photograph of himself holding his mother Priscilla's hand on Instagram on Tuesday (08Dec15), as she fights for life in hospital, according to TMZ.com.

"Praying over every breath she takes," he wrote in the caption. "Our family needs you like never before... Our beloved mother - she's all we have... #PrayerWarriors we welcome your most sincere prayers..."

Reports suggest Priscilla is on a ventilator in a Los Angeles hospital and Tyrese, 36, shared the image just hours after it was revealed he had won a lawsuit against a woman who he claimed took advantage of his mum.

The Grammy-nominated singer overturned a court ruling which ordered him to pay $83,000 (£51,875) to author Cynthia Banks, after she was initially awarded awarded $75,000 (£46,875) in damages, increased to $83,000 with interest charges, after Tyrese failed to respond to a defamation lawsuit brought at a court in Dallas, Texas in September (15) .

Cynthia filed the suit after Tyrese accused her of "taking advantage" of his mother by penning the book Drunk, for 27 Years: A Story of Victory - Her Choice to Live and Not Die.

The writer claimed that the musician's accusations had ruined her reputation but the star fought to have that judgement quashed, and officials at the court in Dallas ruled on Monday (07Dec15) that the initial decision should be overturned.

The tome documented Priscilla's long battle with and recovery from alcoholism, and was written in collaboration with members of her family. Tyrese did not contribute to the book, and claimed the author used his mother vulnerability against her as she sought permission to publish the story.
