The movie executives behind The Fast And The Furious franchise are eyeing an eighth and ninth installment of the high-octane films.

Lucas Black, the star of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, has signed on to appear in the seventh movie, due out next year (14), and the casting news suggests he'll be onboard for the eighth and ninth films too, according to

Representatives for Universal have yet to confirm the additional installments, but franchise star and producer, Vin Diesel, revealed in February (13) that he would only do a seventh film if it was part of a new trilogy.

He said, "I think you'll see a shift in seven. I think, in seven, you'll see kind of a return to the core, and you'll see, without giving away this movie, you'll see a coming home of sorts. It'll be a kickoff to the next trilogy, done right."
