The Duchess Of York is to make a surprise cameo in promotional trailers for a new Peter Pan movie.

The former royal, who was this week (begs17MAR03) mourning the death of her father MAJOR RONALD FERGUSON, has become a reporter for UNIVERSAL PICTURES - who are making the movie - and has been recruited to interview the cast on set in Australia.

The footage is expected to promote the movie - based on the JM BARRIE children's novel - ahead of it's release in December (03).

The Duchess, Sarah Ferguson's spokeswoman says of her new job, "She was delighted to accept the work as a correspondent for Universal. She's looking forward to being a rookie reporter and will be asking all sorts of questions."

The film, to mark the centenary next year (04) of Peter Pan, will star British actors Jason Isaacs and Lynn Redgrave. Unknown PETER SUMPTER will play Peter.
