The Drifters' long time manager Fayrene 'Faye' Treadwell has died at the age of 84.
The pioneering music mogul, who was one of the first female African-American managers in the industry, passed away on 22 May (11) at her home in Burbank, California after suffering complications from breast cancer.
Treadwell was married to music manager George Treadwell, whose clients included Billie Holiday, Sammy Davis, Jr. and The Drifters - she assumed responsibility for the band following his death in 1967.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina, and a stepdaughter, as well as her 107-year-old mother.
