The Darkness' new bass player RICHIE EDWARDS was inspired to become a professional musician by his late brother, who was killed in a house fire in 2001.

Despite his continuing heartache, Edwards - who replaced Frankie Poullain after he was sacked from the British rock outfit earlier this year (05) - credits his brother for sparking his interest in rock.

He says, "He was my best friend. We both loved music and he's the reason I got into it."
