Police in Cannes will stage a two-hour strike on 19 May (06) in a bid to disrupt the French towns famous film festival's opening screening of The Da Vinci Code. Hundreds of police officers in the town are refusing to report for duty to highlight their ongoing dispute over working conditions. The twelve-day Cannes Film Festival, which will open with Ron Howard's adaptation of Dan Brown's novel, will attract stars including Tom Hanks and Kirsten Dunst. Another walkout is being planned a week later (26MAY06).
