Orange Is The New Black star Taryn Manning has branded Johnny Depp "ignorant" after he criticised actors who juggle their Hollywood jobs with music careers.

Depp is a keen musician and has played with artists including Aerosmith, Willie Nelson, Sir Paul MCCartney and Alice Cooper, but he is adamant it is just a hobby and he will never form his own band.

Speaking on the red carpet at a film premiere in Germany earlier this week (beg19Jan15), he told reporters, "That whole idea for me is a sickening thing... I've been very lucky to play on friends' records and it's still going. Music is still part of my life. But you won't be hearing The Johnny Depp Band. That won't ever exist... I hate the idea (of) 'Come see me play the guitar because you've seen me in 12 movies'."

However, Depp's comments have outraged actress Manning, who is a longtime member of Boomkat - a band she formed with her brother in 2003.

In a series of posts on Twitter.com, Manning writes, "Seriously the most ignorant article I've ever read. Maybe cause I'm a musician. So (Depp) does it count if you had a band b4 (before) you acted?.. What about musicians that act? Stupid... I know he's incognito but seriously what's up with that article? Is he ok?... So what is Jd going on about? I think what he said was outrageously wrong. Cause you act, that's it? F (f**k) that."
