The sci-fi films, which tell the story of a freak-cyclone which lifts man-eating sharks out of the sea, gained a mass following after the first movie aired on America's Syfy network in 2013.

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! premiered in the U.S. on Wednesday (22Jul15) and viewers saw an ambiguous ending, in which Reid's character April seems to meet a sticky end in the jaws of a shark.

Movie bosses informed fans they could vote on Twitter.com to decide if April lives or dies by posting a note on the screen, which read, "You decide if #AprilLives or #AprilDies."

Reid took to the microblogging site to urge fans to get involved, writing, "For all the amazing fans of #Sharknado3 if you want April to live #aprilives thank you all for being a part of this unforgettable moment!"

Sharknado 4 is due to hit U.S. screens next year (16).
