British socialite Tamara Ecclestone appeared in court on Monday (19Feb13) to testify against her former fiance who is accused of attempting to blackmail her.

Derek Rose, 33, who was previously engaged to the daughter of billionaire Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone, is currently on trial in London over claims he threatened to sell intimate secrets of the former couple's sex life.

Rose is accused of persuading student Jakir Uddin, 20, to email Ecclestone's agent in 2011 demanding $320,000 (£200,000) for his silence. The pair was arrested last April (12).

Ecclestone appeared at Southwark Crown Court in the British capital on Monday to face her ex-lover and give testimony, telling the court she was initially reluctant to have Rose prosecuted.

She said, "I said I would like police to advise him if he sends me another email I'd like him arrested. However, at this time I would just like him warned."

The email message which was sent to Ecclestone's agent allegedly contained lurid details, so jurors were advised to look at a paper copy instead of having the words read out in court to spare the 28 year old any further embarrassment.

Rose and Uddin both deny blackmail. The trial continues.
