Sylvester Stallone took private Spanish lessons from co-star Salma Hayek on the set of Spy Kids 3D: GAME OVER - and he's now convinced he'll never master the language.

The movie star has been trying to learn Spanish for years but has come to accept his thick New York accent will never allow him to get pronunciations right.

He says, "We have this tape at home and I've been trying to work on 'Paco is the dog.' I can't get past very basic Spanish, but I'm trying to work on it with my daughters.

"I think it's a little too late for me - Salma kinda proved that - but hopefully I can still pick up a few words. It's one of my great regrets that I don't have that ultra-sensitive linguistic gene.

"It just doesn't stick. I went to college for two years in Switzerland and I still spoke guttural New York."
