Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle is celebrating after her album I DREAMED A DREAM was named the best-selling debut in U.K. history on Sunday (29Nov09).
The 48 year old, who took the world by storm after appearing on reality show Britain's Got Talent, is number one in the U.K. after selling more than 410,000 copies of I Dreamed A Dream, which has cemented a place in the record books as the fastest selling U.K. debut ever.
Boyle has smashed previous debut records held by Leona Lewis' Spirit album and Arctic Monkeys' Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not.
I Dreamed A Dream, which is also number one in Australia and Ireland, is followed on the U.K. album chart by British boy band JLS' debut, the Black Eyed Peas' The End, Queen's compilation Absolute Greatest and Leona Lewis' Echo.
