Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle battled severe nerves when she recorded her contribution to Simon Cowell's Haiti charity single - after meeting her idol Rod Stewart.
Boyle headed into the studio on Tuesday (26Jan10) to lay down her vocal for a cover of R.E.M.'s Everybody Hurts, which the American Idol judge organised to raise money for the aid appeal for earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
The 48 year old admits she became "shy" when she met Stewart but overcame her nerves to perform on the track - and was honoured to have been asked to participate by Cowell.
She says, "There's devastation, which is awful to look at, but you can't sit back and do nothing. I'm glad that Simon gave me the opportunity to be involved in this wonderful cause."
Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Michael Buble and Cheryl Cole are among the stars also singing on the charity record.
