The Federal Communications Commission has launched an investigation of Fox's planned game show Our Little Genius after receiving a letter from the father of one of the potential contestants claiming that the child was given a list of potential topics and given specific answers to at least four questions, according to the New York Times , which obtained a copy of the letter following a Freedom of Information Act request. The program, produced by reality show producer Mark Burnett ( Survivor, The Apprentice, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader ) and heavily promoted by Fox last year, was postponed just six days before its premiere and has not been rescheduled. In an interview with today's (Monday) Los Angeles Times , TV historian Tim Brooks commented, "The temptation to make reality work better by tinkering with it is eternal. ... Look at wrestling About 15 years ago [WWE Chairman/CEO] Vince McMahon came clean and said, 'Yes, wrestling is scripted.'" (It was recently reported that Burnett had become a partner in mixed martial arts promoter King of the Cage -- which some have compared with the WWE -- and had arranged to have its contests televised by Mark Cuban's HDNet.)
