Stubborn Heart return with a new 4-track 12" & DL single 'Penetrate' on 30th September and announce their biggest set of UK & European shows to date.
Performing live only since November last year, Stubborn Heart have clocked up shows all over Europe in recent months, including some of its biggest festivals - Eurosonic, Midi Winter and Le Guess Who - returning to the UK for appearances earlier this summer at Field Day, the Boiler Room, and most recently with Ry & Wiedemann at Oval Space.
Sheffield's Walter Ego remix heads up the new 12", filling the original's space with seductive garage beats while The Invisible's Leo Taylor propels the tune forward with myriad rhythms and sustained effects. Complimenting both is the band's own alternative take, transforming the original's still, clean sound with heavier bass and distorted, driving synths. Live favorite Nighthawks - previously only available on the limited edition Rough Trade bonus disc makes up the set. Uncharacteristic of the album material, it pulses gently through several phases before upping the beats into a brief and unexpectedly anthemic chorus.
The original version of 'Penetrate' is accompanied by an eerily atmospheric video directed by young upcoming Czech filmmaker Emile Rafael.
Recipients of Rough Trade and Mixmag 'Album Of The Month' notices, Stubborn Heart have had strong club reactions and scooped the 'Album Of The Year' gong at the Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards at the beginning of 2013, beating off stiff competition from the likes of Frank Ocean, The Invisible and Bobby Womack to take the top spot.
Meanwhile, the duo have found themselves in growing demand as remixers, bringing their distinctive palette of sound to remixes for Lianne La Havas, Samaris, Fimber Bravo and others - with remixes for HK119 & The Invisible on the way.
A steadily growing word-of-mouth hit Stubborn Heart's effortless future electronic soul has struck a note with fans and critics alike, drawing comparison with artists like Talk Talk, The XX, Radiohead and SBTRKT.
