The Stone Roses have been used to being the star attraction wherever they've gone in Europe so far this year, since announcing their reformation, however, in Lyon last night they almost had to take a backseat to another legend with strong Manchester roots as former United footballer Eric Cantona turned up to the venue to hang out with the long-time biographer of the band, journalist John Robb.
Newspaper the Manchester Evening News reported that rumours had been rife that the former French international would even be going so far as to joining the 'Roses on stage that evening - which would've been an odd sight indeed - however he instead decided to appear with former Clash bassist Mick Jones and his band at another venue in town while they performed hit 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go?'
The Stone Roses return to Manchester for the first time since their reunion on Friday (June 29, 2012) - though they did play live in nearby Warrington to kick off their tour - and as usual it's been fun and games for the turbulent group, with the tension point being met during an Amsterdam gig that saw drummer Reni storm off stage at the end of the set. However, that's since been patched up and they'll be heading into the huge outdoor shows at Heaton Park full steam ahead.
