Stevie Wonder's anthem for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, was inspired by personal tragedies he suffered three years ago.
Emotional ballad SHELTER IN THE RAIN, adopted by bereaved families in the wake of the natural disaster, was originally written to commemorate the death of both Wonder's ex-wife and brother of cancer.
He says, "Three years ago I found out my brother Larry was terminally ill. Soon after Syreeta told me she was worried about a lump on her breast.
"Unfortunately the doctor said the lump was a malignant tumour. It was a painful situation and I came up with SHELTER IN THE RAIN around then.
"It was one of the lowest points in my life."
