"We can work it out", ageing soul star Stevie Wonder once sang on a US top 20 charting cover of The Beatles song of the same name back in the 70s, but ultimately it seems like the famous singer has been unable to put his words into practise, and now Tmz is reporting that he is officially divorcing his wife, after being separated from her for three years.
In court papers obtained by the entertainment website, Wonder, who used his legal name of Stevland Morris, cited irreconcilable differences between he and his other half Kai Millard Morris. Morris had been his sunshine since 2001, but relations between the pair soured and they became nothing if not part-time lovers, before parting in 2009. Since then, their efforts at trying to reconcile together have evidently been as effective as blowing in the wind, and so it is that, by signing with two fingerprints that apparently make up his signature, Stevie signed, sealed and delivered his half of the divorce papers.
In the papers, the performer is requesting joint custody of the two boys that the couple have together, with the artist additionally agreeing to pay spousal and child support. Stevie made his money long back in the mists of time of course, but some assets will be split between the two, although how much hasn't yet been determined. Who knows, maybe he was made to love her.
