Legendary director Steven Spielberg is set to receive Israel's highest civilian honour from President Shimon Peres later this year (13).

The Jurassic Park filmmaker will be presented with the prestigious Presidential Medal of Distinction in recognition of his longrunning movie career and his "unique contribution to the memory of the Holocaust, to the State of Israel (and) to the Jewish people".

Previous honourees include U.S. President Barack Obama, former leader Bill Clinton and conductor Zubin Mehta.
