Steven Spielberg's 3D makeover of Jurassic Park will have a one-week-only IMAX run beginning April 5, Universal Pictures and IMAX announced on Wednesday. In a joint statement, the companies said that the IMAX 3D version of Spielberg's 1993 classic permits the director to introduce the film to a new generation of moviegoers and allows longtime fans to experience the world he envisioned in a way that was unimaginable during the film's original release. The film is also being released in non-IMAX 3D venues, but it was not clear whether they will also be limiting the release to one week. Spielberg has previously said that Jurassic Park is the only film he has ever made that he would consider re-releasing in 3D.
