Steve Irwin's widow TERRI has defended her daughter Bindi's upcoming TV show, insisting her father would have wanted the eight-year-old to continue the family's tradition of combining animals and entertainment.
Some critics claim Bindi is too young for the limelight, but Terri is adamant her daughter is content and confident on television and is following the Crocodile Hunter star's wishes.
Steve Irwin was killed during a stingray attack off the Queensland coast in Australia in September (06).
Speaking at the launch of Bindi: The Jungle Girl earlier today (25May07), Terri said, "I think he (Steve) would have said, 'Crikey mate, I couldn't wait for Bindi to take over.' Bindi's been filming with us since she first hatched.
"It was a natural progression to be doing her own shows, and Steve was involved with the first seven episodes. He really enjoyed watching Bindi showcasing the wildlife that he worked with for so many years. It gave him great pleasure."
