Stephen Dorff has joined 'War of the Gods'.

The 36-year-old actor stars alongside Mickey Rourke, Kellan Lutz, Henry Cavill and Freida Pinto in the Greek mythology movie, which begins shooting in April.

Stephen will play master thief Stavros, who joins Theseus (Cavill) on a quest to free Greece from the threat of the mysterious Titans, Variety reports.

'The Fall' director Tarsem Singh is helming the project, and has previously revealed it will be a stylistic mix of "hardcore action" and Renaissance painter Caravaggio.

He told EmpireOnline: "It's turning into, basically, 'Caravaggio' meets 'Fight Club'. It's a really hardcore action film done in Renaissance painting style. I want to see how that goes; it's turned into something really cool.

"It's a bit like Baz Luhrmann doing 'Romeo & Juliet' in Mexico; it's just talking a particular Greek tale and half contemporising it and telling it."

Stephen Dorff is taking part in a number of films this year, shooting the roles of Dick Shadow in 'Born to Be a Star' and Angel in crime drama 'Fallen Moon'.

'War of the Gods' is set to be released in November 2011.
