MARVEL and Sony's tug-of-war over the blockbuster Spider-Man movies will be decided in private with the help of an independent "referee".

The two corporations are arguing over the marketing of the super-successful film adaptations of the comic.

Marvel claim Sony are advertising Spider-Man as a Sony character and have failed to pay them millions for the right to do so.

The dispute will now be settled by an alternative dispute resolution process (ADR), which is not held in a courtroom, and the findings of which are kept secret.
