Sofia Vergara 's beau Nick Loeb sure knows how to make a birthday one to remember. Yesterday (July 10, 2012) was Vergara's 40th birthday party and Nick used the occasion to pop the question and presented Sofia with an engagement ring. The couple were enjoying a relaxing break at a Mexican resort, alongside 90 of their loved ones, according to US Weekly's report, when Loeb asked her to marry him.
An insider told US Weekly that the big moment came when they were visiting Chichen Itza, a site of Mayan ruins near to the Rosewood Mayakoba resort where they were celebrating the Modern Family star's birthday with an impressive group of friends. Sofia's friend Fernando Fiore posted a picture of Sofia's even more impressive diamond ring on his Twitter feed for all to see. The wedding will mark the second marriage for Sofia. She was previously married to Joe Gonzalez, as a teen and has a son with him; 20 year old Monolo. Sofia and Joe divorced in 1993.
Nick and Sofia have had a notoriously tempestuous relationship since they got together in 2010. They met at that year's Golden Globes ceremony, where they got along famously, but split in May this year, after "fighting for a long time." They reunited a few weeks later, however and a source has explained that their relationship has always been up and down, saying, "They have a crazy relationship. They break up and make up. They fight and make up hard!"
