Rapper Snoop Dogg has slammed movie bosses for not allowing him to take on more dramatic roles to show off his acting range.

The hip-hop star, who has appeared in a range of movies including TRAINING DAY, Baby Boy and the upcoming STARSKY + HUTCH film, feels he's yet to be taken seriously as an actor.

Snoop, real name CALVIN BROADUS, says, "I ain't getting what I want. I'm smiling, but I'm not happy.

"Right now, they want Snoop for the two or three million people they think I'll bring to a movie just because of my name.

"I'm looking for more demanding roles, trying to find characters people normally wouldn't expect me to play. I really want to stretch."

And the BEAUTIFUL rapper believes his past as a drug dealer, pot smoker and gang member has a large part to do with the general reluctance to cast him in more challenging roles.

He adds, "I have a reputation. The hard part is creating a new reputation. I still make mistakes. I'm not perfect. But I don't claim to be."
