LATEST: Hip-hop star Snoop Dogg has offered to take a lie detector test to disprove rape allegations against him.

Last week (ends04FEB05), make-up artist KYLIE BELL filed a lawsuit against the star, claiming he and his posse, fuelled by drugs and alcohol, raped her following a 2003 taping of American chat show JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, where Snoop was a guest host.

Bell, who applied and removed Snoop's makeup during his multiday guest-hosting gig, is seeking $25 million (GBP13.1 million) in damages - $5 million (GBP2.6 million) on allegations of sexual assault, rape, negligence and emotional distress, and $20 million (GBP10.5 million) in punitive damages.

In an interview with CNN's Larry King LIVE, Snoop said, "I refuse to be another entertainer who writes a check for false allegations. I'm innocent... I wasn't even in the building."

Snoop, real name CALVIN BROADUS, claimed that Bell is simply after his money, adding, "(Rape is) a serious allegation. This happened two years ago... I got a lot of money, true indeed, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give it to you."

He also denied claims that he drank that night, explaining, "I don't really drink alcohol. I don't get down like that"

Snoop had fired a preemptive strike in December (04), launching a suit of his own accusing Bell of extortion. Snoop claimed Bell and her attorneys had demanded $5 million from him to stay quiet about the alleged assault.

The rap star also noted that he has yet to be charged with any crime for the alleged incident and continued, "Rape is not my nature. I feel very compassionate towards any woman that has been raped. I have a mother, a daughter and a wife and rape is a serious allegation.

"I want to go to court. I want them to come at me the way they come at real rapists. I would rather go to court and show that she's trying to extort me. And that's what time it is right now."
