The Gin and Juice hitmaker reveals he initially approached Hussle about joining the cast of Straight Outta Compton because he preferred "the look" of his Upside Down collaborator to the actor who eventually landed the role, Keith Stanfield.

However, Hussle, who had previously appeared in Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's semi-autobiographical film, I Tried, in 2007 and 2010 movie Caged Animal, wasn't interested.

Snoop tells DJ Whoo Kid, "Nipsey wanted to do his own thing, which I respect that. He don't wanna be in my shadows as far as being so much associated with Snoop Dogg. And he's doing a great job of creating his own lane right now, so I respect him for that.

"I tried to holler at (speak to) him though... I feel him cause I'm like, I'm the same kind of way. Like, 'I don't wanna be up under your shadow forever. I wanna be able to say that I'm just as big as you if not bigger than you (sic)'."

Snoop has since given Stanfield his seal of approval, insisting The Purge: Anarchy star is "dope".

Stanfield joins Jason Mitchell, Ice Cube's son O'Shea Jackson, Jr. and Corey Hawkins, who will portray the late Eazy-E, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, respectively, in Straight Outta Compton, which is due for release later this year (15).
