The Drop It Like It's Hot star has been running his Snoop Youth Football League in Los Angeles for over 10 years and he reveals an early encounter with one of the kids prompted him to rethink his drug use while he serves as coach.

"I stopped about 11 years ago for 180 days when I started my youth football league," he recalled during the premiere episode of Khloe Kardashian's Kocktails with Khloe talk show on Wednesday (20Jan16). "I was coaching football and I went to practice high one day. One of the kids said, 'Coach, you smell like my momma's boyfriend.' I had to check myself and I stopped smoking from that day for 180 days straight and it made me a better coach, a better person."

The sober experience inspired 44-year-old Snoop, who typically smokes every day, to give up marijuana for a period of time year after year.

"I stopped smoking when I was coaching football, so every year when I coach football around the kids, I don't smoke, so that's three months out of the year that I do that...," he explained. "You have to check yourself."
