The rapper is teaming up with former Toronto Raptors player Morris Peterson to stage an all-star ball game on Saturday (21May16) in the sportsman's native Flint, where it was revealed earlier this year (16) that residents had been drinking lead-tainted water from the polluted Flint River since 2014.

Celebrities like Mark Wahlberg and Cher have recently stepped in to offer help by sending truck loads of bottled water to the city, and now Snoop is doing his part to aid the local community.

He and Peterson will host the Hoop 4 Water event, which will take place at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center.

Proceeds from the basketball game will benefit the Morris Peterson Jr. Foundation for water relief efforts.

"I'll tell you what, Snoop loves Flint," Peterson told MLive.com. "He is doing this from his heart, and he's not asking for a dime. He's coming down here on his own merit, and he's concerned with what he can do for the city."

Among the stars set to take part in Saturday's event are professional basketball players Zach Randolph and Andre Drummond, New Orleans Saints footballer and fellow Flint native Mark Ingram, and DJ and TV personality Sway Calloway.
