The Gin & Juice star teamed up with Inglewood Mayor James Butts and other city officials for the second annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway to hand out more than 1,500 pieces of meat on Thursday (19Nov15), a week before America's Thanksgiving holiday (26Nov15).

Snoop arrived late to the event, held in the parking lot of The Forum music venue, and blamed Santa Claus for the delay, telling the crowd, "I was late today because I was talking to Santa Claus about a Christmas special and I said, 'Santa I gotta get to Inglewood to pass out these turkeys'. He was like, 'Well hold on', I said, 'Well hold on Santa I've got people waiting on me' so I'm happy I'm here, Inglewood you know I love y'all.

"This is my second home. Inglewood has been good to me from day one and that's why I love Inglewood and I just want to let y'all know I'm gonna be doing this every year. I'm sorry I'm late but I (am) giving you some big fat turkeys so y'all can get your eat on for Thanksgiving (sic)."

Video footage shows Snoop handing out the turkeys from boxes in the parking lot, and posing for 'selfies' with fans.

Mayor Butts tells Nbclosangeles.com, "Snoop Dogg took pictures with over 800 people at the event... We had a tented area for seniors to sit in, and the first thing he did was go over to take pictures with everyone there."

The rapper, real name Calvin Broadus, first took part in the event last year (14) after meeting Mayor Butts and asking how he could help the community.
