Hip-hop star Snoop Dogg has been detained at Heathrow airport in London yesterday (26APR06) after a brawl with police and staff. The rapper and his 30-strong entourage reportedly initiated the row after they were refused entry into the first-class lounge provided by British Airways, ahead of their flight to South Africa. It is alleged the group hurled bottles of duty-free whisky at airport officials before physically assaulting a string of policemen. Seven officers suffered minor injuries in the disturbance, while another fractured his hand. A police spokesman says, "Police were called at 6pm last night to reports of a disturbance involving 30 people in a business lounge at Terminal 1. "The party was told that they would not be permitted to board their flight and officers then attempted to direct the group to baggage reclaim. "A number of the group became abusive and pushed officers." In total six members of the rapper's entourage, including Snoop Dogg, were arrested for the fracas and charged with violent disorder and affray. In 1993 the DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT star - real name CALVIN BROADUS - was tried and acquitted for murder.
