After disbanding Smashing Pumpkins and struggling to keep his new band Zwan together, rocker Billy Corgan is turning to poetry.

The singer will give a multi-media performance of his writings to kick off the POETRY CENTER OF CHICAGO's 31st annual Reading

Series on 17 September (03).

Corgan, who will join a list of Poetry Center readers which has featured WILLIAM BURROUGHS and Allen Ginsberg over the years, is hoping the event will kickstart his poetry ambitions - he's currently seeking a publisher for a collection of his verse.
