Smashing Pumpkins rocker Billy Corgan has vowed to return to the Philippines to make it up to fans who missed out on the band's show in Manila this week (begs06Aug12) due to a torrential downpour.
The band decided to postpone its Tuesday night (07Aug12) gig in the capital city for 24 hours for health and safety reasons as a result of the heavy rainfall and floods.
The weather was no better on Wednesday (08Aug12), but the stars agreed to press ahead with the show and delayed their start time by 30 minutes to allow fans extra time to make it to the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Corgan took to his Twitter.com blog before the gig to show his sympathy for those struggling to deal with the monsoon season and promised to bring the band back to Manila in the near future.
He wrote, "For all the fans who Cannot come tonight due to the weather we will come back again soon. We have been treated so well, and we thank you... For those not here the best way to explain what's happening in Manila is it has rained crazy for 5 days straight. Worst I've ever seen".
Corgan returned to the social networking site after the concert to thank the devotees who braved the storms to catch the show, writing, "Manila fans, you're the best. Thanks to everyone who made the show possible. Our prayers go out to everyone who has been affected".
