Smashing Pumpkins star Billy Corgan has urged his fans to stop sending abusive online messages to his ex-girlfriend Jessica Origliasso following their split, insisting he still loves and admires the Australian pop star.
The couple recently parted ways after two years together, but the rocker is upset some of his followers have taken aim at The Veronicas beauty Origliasso - and he wants them to stop.
In a series of posts on his page, he writes, "Ladies and gentleman, it seems some among you have construed that their (sic) is an issue between me and my ex Jessicaeronica, some hidden thing.
"I'm taking to twitter (because I see where she is being attacked here) and I ask that she be respected as a woman I love and admire. Although our relationship has ended, we remain the best of friends and I ask that if you respect me you'll treat her with the same respect."
On her own page, Origliasso tells fans, "Once conversations that should be private are undertaken in a public forum they become theatre, meant for the onlookers more than the participants.
"People love to make assumptions about the details of others (sic) relationships, & all you can hope for is that each person involved will stand up & honour the truth, & love about it all. I am so grateful for you all right now. Sending out clouds of love to each of you."
Origliasso revealed the split earlier this week (begs18Jun12), declaring, "It's one of those things. It's really difficult when you spend so much time apart."
